Prayers to a Deaf God by ~TyFlame:iconTyFlame:

Oh please, our lord in heaven,
Save my child of only seven.
He was playing near a train,
I may never see my boy again.
Please God, save my only son,
I don't want his life to be done.

God almighty, hear my plea,
Please return my father to me.
He was fine before his stroke,
Now his mind's all but broke.
He acts like another, meaner, man,
Please, my lord, do what you can.

Holy father, I have sinned,
I do not know where to begin.
I've lied, I've cheated, I've even stole,
I have by now even sold my soul.
Give me guidance, for I have none,
Let me have my sin undone.

Oh Lord of Lords, I call your name,
To beg you to release my shame.
I cheated on my husband, true,
And now I'll make it up to you.
Please forgive me, if you will,
My moment of weakness has made me ill.

Why do you ignore my words, oh God?
Is it that you are a fraud?
Or maybe I do not share the love
That is granted to all from above.
Or maybe, just maybe, I am too small
To be of any concern at all.

I was thinking about how so many people all over the world pray to one God or another, and the majority of those prayers go unanswered. Yes, I don't know this for a fact, but why would they? Why would God, a being of omnipotence and omnipresence, go out of His/Her way so that one of His/Her little peons could have a slightly more bearable existance? Y'see, if He/She answered the prayers of one person, why wouldn't He/She answer everyone's prayers? And sense many prayers go unanswered, we can assume that the prayers that are answered are merely coincidence.

God exists! God may not answer your prayers, but have you ever stopped and looked around?
Look at how lucky you are, things may have turned out much worse,

Then you will truely feel grateful for God.

There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are drempt of in your philosophies.
:icontyflame:
I knew I'd get at least one of these...

Why would God, a being of quite literally unimaginable power, concern himself with the well-being of a peon like myself? He just lets things happen, and watches where the chips fall. He doesn't try to make certain people better off or worse off, He has no reason to. I'm glad I'm where I am today, but that's really of no fault of God's. God is NOT looking out for anyone.

Oh, and I never said that God didn't exist. I simply said that He was deaf to our prayers. Read, don't assume.

Ah, but you can't prove that. You can only philosophise, same as me. ;)

Wow! I really really like that! Not to mention that you are deep enough to doubt such a typically assumed Existence. Keep writing, you are really good...

Now aint that the truth..? {you should read Piers Anthony, with the Incarnations Of Immortality. With those books they tell you about how Satan and God suppossedly made a deal about how many souls that they get in their own domains by the time the world ends. With no interferences. Satan cheats God doesnt, but when they go and check on God.. He is just sitting up there in Heaven contemplating Himself, and no one can get him out of His reverie. So they decided that they need to elect a new god. And, TADA! They elected a girl, who was born a bastard..}

Everybody remembers Adam and Eve, but who remembers Lilith?

just because people dont get what they prayed for doesn't mean that God didn't answer the prayer he just didn't answer it the way people wanted

God is concerned but he lets you decide things for yourself

bad things happen to people who love God and He can either change what is happening or give those people the strength they need to get through it and those people can either use what happens to help them get closer to God or they can turn their backs on him
in the bible it says God works all things for the good of those who love him
He is looking out for people its people who are not looking out for themselves
if someone doesn't want to trust in God (who knows absolutely EVERYTHING and can do ANYTHING) then if something bad happens its their own fault for not listening to God

some people are just cool enough to not need a signature...
i'm obviously not one of those people

Quite true. God answers all prayers. "No" is just as valid an answer as "Yes." Maybe you have never heard of people's prayers being answered the way people want them to, but it does happen. I have seen legs regrow and cancers vanish. It does not happen as often as it should, but do not blame God that you live in a morally bereft nation, a faithless nation, where few truely believe that God will change any aspect of their lives. Faith and trust are key in prayer. Your mindset will play a more important role than anything else. If you do not expect that God will answer your prayer with a 'yes' than more than likely He will not. Blaming God is the easy way out. Look at the world around you. Therein lies the fault.
:icontyflame:
Soooo.... God has talked to you, Dont-lose-heart? How can you listen to God if he does not speak to none but the prophets?

A man who is a friend of mine recently lost his wife to cancer. She was a pious woman who did nothing without wondering what God would have her do first. She came down with malignant melanoma, and died. Maybe God took her back to heaven, but is that really what's best for the faithful? To subject one of his most fervent believers to the horrors of cancer and failed chemotherapy? And what of her equally pious family? Was it right to take a wife and mother away from those in need of her guidance?

God doesn't care. What happens to a piece of the whole is irrelivant, as long as the whole still functions.
